With a big conference in town and hotels sold out, they put air mattresses on their floor, created “Air Bed and Breakfast,” and rented their space to strangers. That simple idea helped them pay rent and showed that people were willing to stay in someone else’s home. Even after early success, investors laughed at them, rejected them, and told them the idea would never work. ✎ After years of rejection, maxed-out credit cards, and failed attempts, Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia refused to quit. They sold custom cereal boxes like Obama O’s and Captain McCain just to survive, raising about $30,000 to keep Airbnb alive. Their creativity and hustle helped them get into Y Combinator, where Paul Graham saw their determination and gave them a chance. With guidance, small funding, and help from their third co-founder Nathan Blecharczyk, they focused on building something people truly wanted. ✎ By listening to users, improving trust, fixing photos, pricing listings better, and expanding beyond air mattresses, Airbnb began to grow. What started with three air beds became a global platform used in over 220 countries, with millions of hosts and hundreds of millions of guest stays. In 2020, Airbnb went public with a valuation over $100 billion. Brian Chesky remains CEO, and Joe Gebbia continues to influence the company’s vision. Their story shows how persistence, creativity, and belief can turn rejection into a world-changing business. ★ BOOKS ★ • Momentum: https://amzn.to/3kJZIAv • Build to Serve: https://amzn.to/3XZiCSg • Your One Word: https://amzn.to/3R9qVII • The Top 10 Rules for Success: https://amzn.to/3JcNZVe • 254 Confidence: https://amzn.to/3jdh9c2 ★ RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU ★ If you liked this video, you'll love these ones: • 5 Steps to Design the Life You Want in 2026! - https://youtu.be/7bSDKXcwhWA • Apple’s Hidden Story: How Steve Wozniak Defied Steve Jobs - https://youtu.be/W1PwcG8i2S8 • Why Saying No Grows Your Business Faster - https://youtu.be/-GiE7IRcID4 ⚑ SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL ⚑ If you want to do great things you need to have a great environment.
